On line registration now open

You can now register for your class on line before you come to make it easier and quicker when you arrive and to ensure you have a place in the busier classes.

Many of you are aware that we have been implementing a new system to record class attendance.  This system allows on line registration prior to attendance for those who would like to.  It is not compulsory but is useful to let us know if you are coming, to make checking in to your class quicker and to ensure you have reserved your place in the busier classes.

Many of you will already be in the system.  Here are the steps that you will need to follow to set yourself up to register on line:

  1. When you navigate to our timetable on our webpage you will now see the “Sign Up Now” button, click on this for the class you’d like to register for.
  2. This will take you to the log on screen.  Under the “New to this Site” section enter your first and last name to search our system.
  3. This will take you the “Find Account” screen, and if you are already in our system you should see your name there.  You can then select your name by clicking “This is me”.
  4. You will then have the opportunity to set up a password and log in to the site.

If you have any problems please shoot us an email to theresa@theyogashedrichmond.com or just come along to class as usual.

Thank you everyone for your patience as we have been getting used to the system.  Hopefully it should make class registrations simple and streamlined.  On line payment is not available at this time, pay at class as usual.  If you have a 10 class pass or membership the system will keep a tally of when you attend.

New classes, new teachers

Kickstart Pilates – Mondays 6-7am with Lani

Pilates is a great support to your yoga practice or just as a practice in it’s own right!  Pilates focuses on increasing core stability, targeting the stabilising muscles of the spine, pelvis and shoulders.  Pilates works on strengthening and toning the entire body.  It is one of the most effective forms of exercise to change body shape and tone up because it targets all the muscles of the body.  Pilates addresses muscle imbalances, strengthening those that are weak and stretching those that are tight, all of which helps to correct posture.  So, this class will be a great start to your day and your week!

About Lani

Lani has been teaching pilates since 2012 and she is currently further studying a Diploma in Pilates with the Australian Method of Pilates.

Lunchtime Bliss – Fridays 12-12:50pm with Jane

A great way to fit a practice into your lunch hour if you work locally or just if you have Fridays off.  This Hatha class is suitable for all levels with something for everyone. So come along and find some community, peace and relaxation at Friday lunchtime.

About Jane

Jane was one of our founding students at The Shed, back in the days when we had no ceiling and no lining on the walls.  Jane completed her teacher training last year and now comes full circle to return to The Shed to teach this lunchtime class.

Some words from Jane:
My love of dance and movement as a child followed me into adulthood, and yoga has complemented perfectly. Breath and Movement, an integral part of life, whether one is still or flowing. Over the many years of my wanderlust, I have always managed to keep in touch with both. For the last 6 years I have been learning the Middle Eastern style of Oriental Dance, with the Hathor Dance Company. My passion for yoga resumed with the opening of the Yoga Shed, and in 2014 I started a teacher training course with James and Michele Sierra at Baulkham Hills Yoga studio. For me yoga is not a  religion, but a way of life. There is no one size fits all. It benefits everyone and discriminates none.

International Day of Yoga

A group of students and teachers from The Yoga Shed had a fantastic day attending the International Day of Yoga at Taronga Zoo on June 21.  This event was organised by the Consulate General of India.  Participants were treated to talks by the Indian Console General himself, a Swami from The Divine Life Society (on Ayurveda) as well as a yoga practice, a lovely vegetarian meal, a photo opportunity with Brett Lee the cricketer and the wonderful views of the harbour bridge and the Opera House.
